Non-surgical treatment
Treatment depends on the severity of the injury. Typically, however, non-surgical treatment may include rest, rehabilitation, physical therapy, injection, and an orthopedic cast. Recently, the more popular trend is to strengthen the muscles surrounding the joint, while working to prevent joint stiffness, muscle atrophy, and degenerative changes in the cartilage.
Surgical treatment
Surgical treatment options include the removal of loose bodies (clean-up), debridement surgery, microfracture surgery, autologous chondrocytes transplantation, and autologous bone marrow stem cell therapy.
Stem Cell Cartistem treatment
Stem cell Cartistem is a medical product, mainly composed of mesenchymal stem cells of the fetus from umbilical cord blood. Stem cell Cartistem is administered to the injured site via surgery or arthroscopy. It treats damaged knee cartilage in patients with osteoarthritis caused by degeneration or repetitive trauma.
